Six of Utah’s top teachers and two outstanding volunteers have been selected to receive the Utah PTA 2008 “Golden Apple Awards” for Excellence in Education presented by the Utah PTA and KUED.
KUED broadcasts the ceremony from the Eccles Broadcast Center with on-site footage shot at each recipient’s school.
The 2008 teacher honorees include Ross Durrant, Shelley Elementary in American Fork; Denise Jones, Enterprise Elementary in Enterprise; Amber Mann, Amelia Earhart Elementary in Provo; Andrew McIntyre, Olympus Junior High in Salt Lake City; Lynda Mullins, Jennie P. Stewart Elementary in Centerville; and Eli (Doug) Paneé, Oak Canyon Junior High in Alpine.
Volunteer honorees are Michele Blakeslee, North Ogden Elementary, in Ogden and Carol Theurer, Rocky Mountain Elementary in Lindon. UEA President Kim Campbell will present two of the awards.
The first airing of the program is on Wednesday, May 28th at 8 p.m. The second airing is on June 1st at 6 p.m.
The Utah Education Association is a co-sponsor of the annual awards program.
